I shouldn’t need to introduce someone like Sky Scraper Stan, but for those not versed he is one of the most appreciated songwriters within the Australian music scene at date. This year he has come up swinging with his band The Commission Flats with the hit album Those Were Days. These rock, folk and according to the Aria charts (where it was sitting at Number 1 only 1 week after release), country tunes resonate with everyone that hears them as his storytelling ability, teamed with the talent and enthusiasm of the band bring this art to life. And I mean to life, because it’s one of the most honestly energetic releases performed solely by people that I have heard in awhile. If you have not heard it already you are missing out. It was recorded at the late Headgap Studios, mixed by the extremely talented drummer of the band Andy Lloyd-Russell and finally mastered by Shane Jarvie-Kohn for digital and vinyl release. Listen to it, get yourself a copy and be glad you listened to this advice.
